The Apple CEO donated over 23,000 Apple shares to charity.
Today, as spotted by Business Insider, Tim Cook donated 23,215 shares of owned Apple (AAPL) stock to charity. Those shares would be worth around $4,992,154 - nearly $5 million.
Corporate leaders who are donating to charity must disclose the amount of money they will be donating, however do not need to specify the charity, and that has been kept private.
In the past, Cook has made many personal donations to different charities. In 2014, he donated to an LGBT campaign, and in 2015, he made a very similar donation to a disclosed charity.
He did not sell any shares for his benefit. This is really great to see a CEO of a company so big (the biggest in the world in fact) donating a lot of money. We'll update you if any more information about Tim Cook's donation comes out.
