Shortcuts has been updated with numerous added features and support.
Apple's app that replaced Workflow has received its first major update today bringing support for parts of iOS and HomePod too.
You will now be able to check and find out the latest weather in your shortcuts with "Get Current Weather" and "Get Weather Forecast" commands. This is popular with Siri and other voice assistants like Alexa and Google Home.
• Use the latest weather in your shortcuts with the new Get Current Weather and Get Weather Forecast actions • Set alarms and timers with the new Create Alarm, Toggle Alarm, and Start Timer actions • Convert between a variety of units with the new Measurement and Convert Measurement actions • Get the most recent set of imported photos from the Photos app using the Get Last Import action • When running a shortcut from HomePod using Siri, media will now automatically play back from HomePod using AirPlay • Bug fixes
Also new is the ability to set alarms and timers with "Create Alarm" and "Create Timer" actions in the app. This has addressed a major problem with Shortcuts 1.0 as people were confused as to how to set alarms (and then found out they couldn't).
Other things that are new include getting measurements and the most recent set of imported photos from the Photos app.
The new update also fixes some bugs, and notably, issues that occurred with the HomePod over AirPlay.
The update comes the same day as Apple's event. Download Shortcuts from the App Store if you're running iOS 12 (if you're running an older version of iOS, you will see Workflow instead).
