Last week the new Macbook Air 2018 was announced. The MacBooks are likely to be in stock on 7th november here in Europe. Will this new macbook be a real upgrade?
The new Macbook Air has (almost) everything users of the old Macbook Air wished for. There is a new screen which is a huge improvement over the old model which had an low resolution screen and it also wasn't retina.
Next they improved the processor. Where the older model had the 5th gen i5 and i7 the new ones will have the 8th gen chips. A more detailed article will be posted, like we did with the comparison between the old iPads and the new ones, later on. You will however feel that your Mac is a lot faster.
They also took over the habit of replacing all the useful ports like USB A and an SD card by USB C. The positive side is that USB C will replace most of the connections still used nowadays. However for students and people who are on the go, using dongles will not be useful at all.
And the last important thing is that they replaced the old standard keyboard by a more advanced keyboard with butterfly keys. And next to the keyboard they placed some nice stereo speakers which gives you 25% more volume and 100% more bass.
Overall the upgrade is a very good upgrade and worth it when you look at the specs. You do need to look at the pricing which is starting at around 200-300 dollars more depending on where you buy it.
