People are reporting their iCloud mentions an 'iPod Touch 7th Generation'.
In the past few days, people have been reporting that iCloud is mistaking their iPod Touch as an unreleased '7th Generation'.
Screenshots in tweets from KILIK, Robin Jonas and Tanner Miller show that iCloud is showing iPod Touch 6s as a newer model. It seems to be in the "My Devices" section of iCloud Settings, on the website, not on iOS.
Threads on the MacRumors forums from July are also claiming this as well, with genuine screenshots of the page.
However, this looks like it's a glitch that starting happening in July, that Apple still haven't patched yet. The image of the iPod doesn't seem correct as the new iPod 7th Generation would be running iOS 12, and the image indicates an iPod Touch 6 running iOS 11.
However, there is always hope for an iPod Touch upgrade, and we can question why it would even say 7th Generation in the first place. Maybe Apple are secretly working on a new iPod? It's unclear. We'll just have to wait until the October Event.
