Apple is now offering rear camera repairs to customers whose Face ID doesn’t work. If that doesn’t solve the problem, the iPhone X will be replaced by a new unit.
A new support document, which was sent out to Apple Authorized Service Providers and retail stores this weekend, points out that Apple offers repairs for the rear camera when Face ID doesn't work. The True Depth camera and the telephoto camera lens are connected, as explained by a Genius Bar employee: "The lenses differ on what they do. The wide angle did the ones that worked and is connected to the front facing camera. The telephoto is connected to the true depth and was not working."
If a camera repair doesn't solve the Face ID issue, the customer will be given a new iPhone X unit.
