Google has announced the Pixel 3 and 3XL phones that will compete with the iPhone.
After loads of leaks, Google has unveiled it's latest Pixel flagships. The Pixel 3 has a 5.5inch screen starting at $799, and the XL has a 6.3-inch display with a starting price of $899.
The two phones have a Snapdragon 845 processor, 4GB of RAM and front-facing stereo speakers too. The larger device also has a large notch with a chin at the bottom whereas the 5.5inch device has bezels and no notch. The
You also get 64GB of storage, and this can be expanded to 128GB by shelling out another $100.
Both Pixels have a single 12.2MP camera on the back and two front-facing cameras for wider view of people or better views for surroundings. Last year's Pixel 2 had one of the best cameras ever on a smartphone, closely followed by the iPhone X, and the Pixel 3 may get that award again.
Google have taken wireless charging from the iPhone and added it to their new phones too. It supports up to 10-watts charging. A new Pixel Stand has been released along side the new devices: it's a wireless charger made by Google for these phones only. It seems Google have beaten Apple and released this before AirPower has come out!
The two phones ship with Android 9 Pie, with a gesture-based OS.
The Google Pixel 3 and 3XL will be extremely strong competitors to Apple's new iPhone XS, XS Max and XR, especially when it comes to the cameras. Apple dramatically improved the iPhone's cameras with software this year, but Google may have beaten Apple again.
Google may have won the Best Smartphone Camera award, but the iPhone XS will most likely outrun that Snapdragon processor inside, just as it did with the Note9.
If you want a phone with a massive notch, and some chin, you can pre-order the Pixel 3 and 3XL from today. We can expect reviews to come this week, and speed tests against the iPhone.
Pre-orders also start next Friday for Apple's iPhone XR.
