Apple has leaked the marketing images of the new iPhones and Apple Watch a few days ago. Accidentally, according to sources. But wasn't it on purpose?
On our Instagram post about the Apple Watch series 4 leaked marketing image, two followers commented:
Accidentally? Apple?? Ha...smart advertising strategy
“Accidentally” yeah sure
That made me think: did Apple deliberately leak the images?
Personally, I think Apple would never do such a thing. It's almost a yearly tradition that people get excited for the new iPhones 2-3 months before the event.
But from another perspective, it could be a good strategy to have many people order the iPhone or Apple Watch immediately after the announcement.
This year's iPhones won't get much improvements over the iPhone X, but the new, leaked gold color could be a push factor for people to buy it.
For the leaked Apple Watch image, this theory could be the same. We didn't see a major change since the launch of the first Apple Watch in 2015, design-wise. But this year, the Apple Watch series 4 is expected to feature the new gold color, solid state buttons, and a larger display.
Does Apple want to get people hyped for its new products ahead of the official announcement? Or was it really an accident?
