Multiple AirPods releases may be happening this year, it seems.
AirPods Wireless Charging Case soon, AirPods 2 later "this fall" with new colours
This is according to a tweet from OnLeaks, who is suggesting that we will see two separate releases related to the AirPods this year. OnLeaks is a reliable leaker and has given us details regarding the newest iPad Pro and this year's iPhone designs.
Firstly, the wireless charging case for AirPods will be launching around March, when a hardware event is expected from Apple. They will come alongside the current-generation AirPods and if purchased, will work with them. It will be shipped with the first-gen AirPods in the box, too.
Secondly, new AirPods will be announced around Fall (Autumn) and should come with new variations of colours, likely black and Space Grey, as well as the classic white. These upgraded AirPods will probably be on sale by mid-December.
AirPods 2 coming with specialised grip coating
According to a report from MySmartPrice, the next generation AirPods, will feature a new design and grip coating. Improved audio qulaity, notably 'bass' is also to be expected.
The new coating will allow the AirPods to grip in ears better and slip out of your hands less when you remove them. It will also feel softer in your ears. The case will also feature this specialised coating too.
Additionally, the AirPods may come in a black colour and have a higher price tag: $199 - however this is just an opinion, likely, and may differ when actually released.
